Fully electric vehicles still use a regular 12V auxiliary battery to power up their systems and ‘start’. When that 12V battery goes flat, the car won’t switch on, even with charge in the main battery. We can boost it.

How an EV jumpstart works
The 12V battery runs the locks, screens, computers and the relays that connect the main battery. If it’s flat, nothing wakes up. We connect to the 12V battery or the manufacturer’s 12V jump points, give it a boost so the car powers up, and the car’s own systems take over from there.
We boost the 12V battery only. We do not charge the main battery of an EV. If needed, the car can be towed to a charging point, but that’s not something Jumpstart Service does directly.

Is it safe to jumpstart an electric car?
Yes, when it’s done on the 12V auxiliary battery the way the manufacturer intends. We only connect to the 12V battery or the 12V jump points, never to the high-voltage system. Some EVs have specific jump-start instructions in the handbook, so tell us the make and model when you call.
Which EVs can you boost?
Most fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars and vans have a 12V auxiliary battery, including popular models from Tesla, Volkswagen, Nissan, Hyundai, Kia, BMW, Renault and others. Call 086 361 8091 with your make and model and we’ll confirm.
Can you charge my main EV battery?

How do I know it’s the 12V battery?
Common signs are a dark screen, doors or handles that won’t respond, or the car not powering up even though the main battery showed charge. If you’re unsure, call and describe what’s happening.
